HYDERABAD: A five-month-old baby, B. Bhargavi, was crushed under the wheels of an APSRTC bus at Aliabad under Shahalibanda police station limits on Wednesday.
The baby’s mother Suguna, a resident of Saraswathiguda in Kandukur, was getting down from the bus at Aliabad when she accidentally fell down from the footboard. Then the child slipped from her hands and came under the rear wheels when the bus was moving, resulting in severe injuries.
The baby was declared brought dead to a nearby hospital. Suguna, however, escaped unhurt. She boarded route number 253L bus at Lemur village in Ranga Reddy district to come to her relative’s house at Aliabad, said Shahalibanda Sub-Inspector G. Balraju.
The police booked a case of negligent driving against bus driver, N. Devula (50), of Falaknuma and arrested him.
