VIJAYAWADA: Personality development would be greatly hindered if a person fails to come out of fears and phobias, says psychologist T.S. Rao.
Speaking at a meeting on ‘Fears and Phobia in day to day life’ organised by Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS)on the occasion of the World Mental Health Week on Wednesday, Dr. Rao said “unmindful comments” of parents and people could lead to fears and phobia among the children. For such children, school, teacher, examinations and interviews would start only with fear and turn into phobia, if not corrected in time. As these phobias create turmoil in their lives, youth should try to overcome these hurdles for a better career, he said. Explaining the various types of phobias, Dr. Rao said people who feel nervous and confused often tend to suffer from phobias. But the phobias could be cured with the behavioural therapy, he pointed out.JSS director N Vidyakanna was also present.
