NAGAPATTINAM: All basic amenities, including drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply, streetlights, concrete roads and creation and desilting of village ponds, are being provided to 64 village panchayats in Nagapattinam district under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam during the current year, said Collector Tenkasi S. Jawahar on Wednesday.
The Collector, who inspected the implementation of various development works being carried out in the villages of Tirukkuvalai, Keezhaiyur, Tirupoondi East, Chozhavidapuram and Karapidagai west in Keezhaiyur block in the district, said Rs.1 crore was spent under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam.
Allocation
Mr. Jawahar pointed out that under the AMT scheme, the Government allocated Rs.20 lakh for each of the 64 village panchayats for providing basic amenities for the year 2007-08.
The Collector instructed the district officials to speed up the work and complete them within the stipulated time.
