‘We are ready to face the elections even in one month’ BJP wants to prevent Congress from forming the government SHIMOGA: Former Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said here on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was ready to form a government in Karnataka for the next 20 months if the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy extended “unconditional” support from outside. “Mr. Kumaraswamy should express regret and repentance by coming out along with his party MLAs in support of the BJP,” he said. Mr. Yediyurappa said he would not hold any talks with Mr. Kumaraswamy. “He should do it on his own. I am offering this suggestion to him through the media,” he said. He would take up the matter with the BJP national leadership if Mr. Kumaraswamy offered unconditional support of his party. Asked if his party leaders were ready for this arrangement, he said that he would “try” to convince them. He recalled that the BJP had extended outside support to the Ramakrishna Hegde government in 1983 when the first non-Congress government was formed in Karnataka. He said the Janata Dal (Secular) should “reciprocate” by offering support to the BJP from outside. He said he was confident of getting the support of the Janata Dal (United) with which the party had allied in the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation. On Congress offer“We are ready to face elections even if they are to be held within a month. But the possibility of forming the Government with outside support from the Janata Dal (S) is being considered by the party with the sole intention of preventing the Congress from forming the government by resorting to horse-trading,” he said.
