Rahul attends meet

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The AICC Publicity Committee had its first meeting chaired by party general secretary Digvijay Singh and attended, among others, by Rahul Gandhi. The panel charted out its strategy and identified issues.

Farmers’ distress and price rise of commodities would be taken up on priority in the next meeting scheduled for October 23. “We had a good meeting. It was on how best and how fast we can respond to issues,” Mr. Singh told journalists later.

According to him, Mr. Gandhi wanted the committee to avoid huge documents and make bullet points for the Congress workers, which could then be disseminated to the ‘aam admi.’

The committee decided to bring out a comparison between the last three years of the National Democratic Alliance rule and the first three years of the United Progressive Alliance regime. It would highlight issues such as the Sachar Committee’s report and the NDA’s role on the Sethu project.

A report would be brought out on the allocation of funds to States, which the party claims, was the highest ever during the UPA regime.
