Freedom in sight: A star tortoise that was found by a police team during a raid on a house in Nallam. This is a protected species under the Indian Wildlife Protection Act. The house had been rented out to Latheef, a native of Kasaragod, an accused in many theft cases. The police have registered a case. The tortoise will be handed over to the officials of the Forest Department.
