KOTTAYAM: Varkey George, industrialist and the former member of Parliament, died at a private nursing home here on Thursday. He was 78. One of the senior members of the Kerala Congress, he is a former chairman of the Kottayam Municipal Council and was closely associated with the CSI Church, YMCA and the Rotary Club. His body will be placed at the Kerala Congress(M) office and at the municipal office for the public to pay homage before the funeral, scheduled for 10.30 a.m. at the cemetery of the CSI Cathedral. George is survived by wife and four children. — Staff Reporter
