Call to end mosquito menace

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday urged the government to take steps on a war footing to end the mosquito menace in the Union Territory.

In a statement here, CPI (M) unit secretary V. Perumal said the residents of Puducherry had to shell out more money on purchasing mosquito repellents than for buying milk.

He called for joint efforts by the Health, Local Administration and Public Works Departments to eliminate mosquitoes at the larval stage.
