Budhia seeks admission in DAV Public School

BHUBANESWAR: Child marathoner Budhia Singh, who discontinued his studies, is all set to join DAV Pubic School, Chandrasekharpur, here next week. Budhia, along with his mother, relatives, coach and other officials of the Sports Hostel, met principal and faculty members of the school, seeking his admission on Thursday. He would join the LKG class. He remained out of school for several months after he parted ways with his estranged coach Biranchi Das. Budhia had earlier taken admission in the city-based BJEM School, which was nearer to Judo Hall where he was staying.

A spokesperson of DAV School said the government had requested the school management to give the child sprinter an admission. The file containing interview and other official procedural details had been sent to the school chairman who would take a final decision, he said.

Sources, however, said that the child would resume his studies in the DAV Public School. The government recently took the child marathon prodigy under its wing by giving accommodation in the Sports Hostel at Kalinga Stadium here.
