NCP seeks law to save farm land

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Wednesday accused the Puducherry administration of “turning a blind eye to the large-scale use of agricultural land for other purposes in the Union Territory.”

National council member of the party G. P Sarathy told reporters here that the growth of unchecked real estate activity had contributed to the area of cultivation getting reduced, he said.

Criticising the administration for its “failure” to check the growing conversion of farm land, he said the government should immediately bring out a law to ban the use of such land for other purposes.
