Dissolve Assembly, Sindhia urges Governor

Special Correspondent

P.G.R. Sindhia

BANGALORE: The former Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader P.G.R. Sindhia has appealed to the Governor to take steps to immediately dissolve the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and recommend fresh elections.

Stating this in a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Sindhia said he had sent a fax to the Governor and would meet him soon.

Mr. Sindhia said that the Governor should not give chance for the formation of another coalition government in the State as in the last two incidences the coalition governments have failed the people. In both coalition governments the power had been in the hands of power brokers and land mafia. He said that in his appeal, he had requested the Governor to suggest to the President to immediately to dissolve the Assembly.

He alleged that just before the H.D. Kumaraswamy Government resigned, there were many decisions taken in haste by government functionaries, including appointments, transfers, promotions, land acquisitions and various other administrative and financial decisions. All of them should be cancelled as those decisions reeked of nepotism, he said. Mr. Sindhia alleged that at least one lakh people had been appointed to various government corporations, boards, co-operative organisations, commercial establishments run by the government.

Alleging widespread irregularities in the land acquisition made by the KIADB, BDA and Urban Development Ministry, Mr. Sindhia said these acquisitions were not in order and needed to be reviewed. He said only three days before the Chief Minister and the Cabinet resigned, over 1,000 acres of land around Bangalore had been denotified which was also done in a hurry to favour a few people close to the parties involved in the coalition government.
