Ramlila gets tax exemption

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister A. K. Walia on Thursday announced that the Delhi Government has exempted from tax all entertainment activities being organised during the 10 days of Ramlila at different places across the Capital.

The Minister said the activities that had been exempted from tax include swings and other entertainments that attract a large number of people including children.

New excise policy

Earlier the Government had exempted from tax the staging of Ramlila as part of the Kala Sanjivani Samaroh for a period of 10 days in a year through its new excise policy.

The Delhi Government, Dr. Walia said, had been receiving representations requesting exemption from entertainment tax on entry tickets for swings and other entertaining activities.

Keeping in view the interest of spectators during Ramlila, he said, the Excise Department has decided to grant exemption from entertainment tax.
