YSR mulling probe into assets

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: As the verbal duel between the Congress and Opposition Telugu Desam over charges of corruption continues, Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy is reportedly working out the modalities of instituting an inquiry into the assets owned by him as well TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Sources said he was examining the pros and cons of appointing a retired High Court Judge to go into the properties owned by his family as well as Mr. Naidu in 1978, the year they joined politics, and their net worth at present. The Chief Minister on Tuesday offered to institute such an inquiry and the TDP was quick to accept the gauntlet.

Dr. Reddy who closeted with the State Government’s political advisor K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao and some of his senior Cabinet colleagues, including Finance Minister K. Rosaiah, on Thursday is understood to have discussed the issue with them.
