Kakinada: The Government has done great injustice to the ryots by not giving proper support price for paddy when compared to the wheat, according to Chundru Saibaba, a farmer of Velangi near here. Describing it as discrimination, he said while announcing Rs.1,000 per quintal of wheat giving a hike of Rs.250, the Government was unkind by declaring only Rs.50 bonus per quintal of paddy.
Moreover, he said, the imposing of ban on rice exports was detrimental to ryots’ interests.
Mr. Saibaba, who is also vice-president of Kakinada area rice millers association, regretted that rice exports ban would hit both ryot and miller. There are nearly two million tonnes of rice stocks ready for shipments that are held up now.
