250 delegates from India and abroad are likely to attend A galaxy of experts from U.S. will share their expertise CHANDIGARH: The Department of Urology at the PGI here is organising a two-day “International Live Operative Workshop on Advanced Laparoscopic Urology” from Friday during which laparoscopic procedures would be performed in the main operation theatre and demonstrated live with direct audio-video transmission to the Lecture Theatre Complex of the Institute. Senior specialists told media persons here on Thursday that many urological surgeries are now being performed with laparoscopy which carries less intra-operative and post-operative morbidity as compared to traditional open surgery. Laparoscopy is associated with early recovery from surgery, small surgical scars, less pain and less wound-related complications. More than 250 delegates from all over India and neighbouring countries including Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka are likely to attend the workshop. A galaxy of experts from the US and different parts of India would demonstrate management of different urological diseases with laparoscopy. On Friday, there will be a live telecast of robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery from AIIMS in New Delhi.
