Congress to move no trust motion

Staff Correspondent

“Failure of Shivraj Singh Government to perform on many crucial fronts”

BHOPAL: The opposition Congress would be moving a no-confidence motion against the Shivraj Singh Chauhan Government on “the issue of corruption and failure to perform on many crucial fronts” during the winter session of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly.

This was announced by the leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Jamuna Devi, at a press conference here this afternoon. Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh and PCC president Subhash Yadav also addressed the journalists.

A meeting presided over by Ms. Jamuna Devi was earlier held at her residence to draw the strategy for taking up various issues through the adjournment motion prepared by a committee headed by Mr. Digvijay Singh.

Ms. Jamuna Devi said the Congress would be launching a “Jan Jagran Padyatra” (a foot march to build up public awareness) from 34 different places across the State to expose “misrule and rampant corruption” under the present BJP-led State Government. She said people all over the State were suffering due to corruption and poor law and order. The farmers were also being neglected and the youth were facing the brunt of unemployment. The condition of roads had deteriorated and electric supply had become a major problem, she added.

“Jan-jagran padyatras” would conclude before the winter session of the Assembly with a big rally in the State capital in the last week of November.

Answering queries, Mr. Digvijay Singh said that in future he would neither contest State Assembly nor Lok Sabha elections. All his ambitions have been met and now he would only work to repay his debt, he said, adding: “I owe a lot to the party”.
