B.S. Yediyurappa BANGALORE: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party leader B.S. Yediyurappa on Thursday demanded that the Legislative Assembly be dissolved and fresh elections should be held in December itself along with Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. Mr. Yediyurappa had only on the previous day declared in Shimoga that the BJP would form a government if the Janata Dal (Secular) offered outside support. But the BJP leader on Thursday maintained that he had been quoted “out of context”. He claimed that he had made such a statement in Shimoga only to highlight the failure by the JD(S) to transfer power as per the power-sharing agreement between the JD(S) and the BJP. Speaking to reporters at the party office in Bangalore on Thursday, Mr. Yediyurappa said that people were the best judges of the present political situation in the State. The JD(S) and the Opposition Congress should also seek early elections to the Assembly. Meanwhile, the BJP has decided to extend its Dharma Yuddha (campaign against failure by the JD(S) to transfer power to it) till this month-end. As per the earlier schedule, the campaign was supposed to end on October 15. However, the party has now decided to stretch it till October 28. Similarly, the party has also decided to change the schedule of its proposed public rally to be held in Bangalore. The rally would now be held in the second week of November instead of the earlier schedule of October 18
