dated October 12, 1957: New era in Asia

The disparity in living levels between the people of Asia and those of the rest of the world has widened in the last few years and the closing of this gap is the main task for the future, the Director-General of the International Labour Organisation, Mr. David A. Morse, declared in a report prepared for the ILO’s Fourth Asian Regional Conference. The conference, which will bring together employer, worker and Government delegates from some 25 countries, will take place in New Delhi from November 13 to 26.
