CPI: what is the logic?

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (CPI) said on Thursday that the Election Commission’s decision to have a two-phase Assembly poll in Gujarat has led to criticism.

“As there had been largescale communal disturbances in Gujarat, what is the logic behind holding polls in only two phases when in West Bengal the Commission had ordered five-phase polling,” CPI national secretary and MP D. Raja told The Hindu.

He said the Commission should take note of all aspects and ensure a free and fair poll in Gujarat.
