PUDUKOTTAI: Two buses were attached in Pudukottai on Thursday for non-compliance of court orders on payment of compensation.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Rajamanickam ordered the attachment of a bus owned by the Kumbakonam division of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. The petitioner, Mookaiah, was injured in a road mishap involving a Corporation-owned bus in August 2005. The court directed a compensation of Rs.1.60 lakh in 2005 and, subsequently, increased it to Rs.1.92 lakh in February this year. However, the Corporation failed to pay the compensation.
Based on an execution petition, Mr. Rajamanickam ordered the attachment of a bus. The court staff went to the New Bus Stand, attached a bus and brought it to the court campus.
In a similar case, the Fast Track Court, Pudukottai, on Wednesday ordered the attachment of a bus owned by the Pudukottai branch of the Corporation for not paying compensation to an accident victim.
The petitioner, Saranya, was injured in a road mishap involving a TNSTC bus in 2003. The court in 2006 directed the Corporation to pay a compensation of Rs.3.68 lakh to Saranya. Since the Corporation was yet to honour the order, the woman filed an execution petition praying for a directive from the court for early disbursement.
Judge P. Ayyasamy ordered the attachment of a bus. The court staff went to the New Bus Stand attached a bus owned by the Corporation and brought it to the court.
