CBI inspector found dead

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: An inspector with the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation was found dead near the railway track at Hazrat Nizamuddin here on Wednesday evening.

He was assisting the team investigating a case of disproportionate assets against former Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Akhand Pratap Singh “as and when required”.

Inspector Sultan Singh had left his Sadiq Nagar house on Wednesday afternoon. His body was found lying near the railway tracks later in the evening.

The police found an identify card from his revealing that he was a CBI inspector.

They have recorded statements of some eyewitnesses stating that Sultan Singh was crossing the tracks when a train ran over him.

On Thursday, the inspector’s son identified the body of his father, following which post-mortem was conducted and the body was handed over to the relatives.
