School locked down

PALM DESERT, California: A high school was locked down for a police search on Thursday after a student reported that a weapon was on campus.

Interim Superintendent Doris Wilson told radio station KFWB-FM that a student reported to a family member early on Thursday that a person, who is not a student, was on the Palm Desert High School campus with a weapon or gun.

Deputy Sheriff Herlinda Valenzuela said students were being kept in classrooms. — AP
