HYDERABAD: World No.2 Koneru Humpy of India achieved a rare feat of touching the performance rating of Elo 2800 as she played a significant role in her team Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo winning the European Club Cup championship for women in Turkey, according to Lanka Ravi, Deputy Manager (HR), ONGC. Monte Carlo scored 20 points followed by AVS Krasnoturinsk and MIKA Yerevan. Humpy, who is a senior HR executive in ONGC, had a score of 5.5 from six rounds. Humpy’s team included Pia Cramling (Sweden), former World champion Zhu Chen (Qatar), Socko Monika (Poland) and Skripchenko Almira (France). Sasikiran shinesGM K. Sasikiran, also of ONGC, also put up an impressive performance scoring five points from six rounds, and a performance rating of 2753, for his team Chess Club Zagreb that finished fifth in the men’s championship. Viswanathan Anand’s team of OSC Baden-Baden (which also included GM P. Harikrishna) was fourth with the World Champion joining it very late because he was busy with the World Championship in Mexico. — Principal Correspondent
