Bharatanatyam performance today

Aswathy V. Nair

If you love classical dance and if you are in Kozhikode, the Tagore Centenary Hall is where you should be on Saturday night. N. Srikanth and Aswathy V. Nair, Bharatanatyam dancers, and their senior students at Nrityalaya, will present a show that will have more than pure Bharatanatyam. The show is titled ‘Parampara.’

The programme, to mark the launch of the web site of Nrityalaya, being run by Kalamandamalam Saraswathi, is choreographed by Srikanth and Aswathy. It will feature two traditional pieces in Bharatanatyam, Jathiswaram and Thillana.

There would be a jugalbandi of Mohiniyattom and Bharatanatyam (Omanathinkal kidavo …) as well as folk music set in Bharatanatyam style.

Aswathy and Srikanth will be accompanied by their 24 students.

P. K. Ajith Kumar
