NAMAKKAL: Collector G. Sundaramurthi distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 3.50 lakh at the special mass contact programme conducted in Namakiripet town panchayat here recently.
He said at the function that eligible persons would be provided free house site pattas. The district administration would acquire private lands to provide free house sites, if poremboke lands were not available in an area, he added. He said that the mass contact programme was primarily being organised to create awareness among people about various welfare schemes implemented by the Government to enhance the quality of life of people.
He received about 250 petitions.
A majority of the petitions were related to patta transfer, free house site pattas, old age pension and marriage assistance.
Mr. Sundaramurthi said that the district administration would register all the grievance petitions online and forward them to the departments concerned immediately.
Officials would give proper reply to the petitioners within 15 days from the date of submission.
Earlier, officials from various departments explained about several Government schemes.
Residents from Ariyagoundampatti, Jedarpalayam and Pachudaiyampatti attended the programme.
