ERODE: As part of counting elephants in forests and plains, including temples, the forest department is implanting microchips on the elephants. The chip will record the details of the elephants’ movements. A veterinary doctor implanted a chip on the Bhavani Sangameswarar temple elephant Vedanayagi. The chip can be be synchronised with a computer to collect details.
