About Rs. 5 lakh to be spent on the festivities and cultural programmes Kannada Chaluvali leader Vatal Nagaraj to inaugurate the ‘jamboo savari’ DHARWAD: The annual “jamboo savari” on the lines of the Mysore Dasara would be held in Dharwad on October 20 as part of the Dasara celebrations that began in Dharwad on Friday. Dharwad Dasara Jamboo Savari Utsav Samiti president Gururaj Hunasimarad told presspersons here on Friday that the festival would be held at the Maruti Temple at Saraswatipur in Dharwad till October 20. The samiti had been celebrating “Navratri” on the lines of the celebrations in Mysore for the past three years and this it would be spending Rs. 5 lakh for the purpose. Funds had been mobilised from individuals and organisations and there was no share of the Government, Mr. Hunasimarad said. Seers to be presentHe said the “jamboo savari” would be led by several folk troupes on the thoroughfares of Dharwad. Kannada activist and MLA Vatal Nagaraj would be inaugurating the ‘jamboo savari’ in the presence of Sri Virasomeshwara Rajadeshikendra Swamiji of Rambhpuri Peeth, Sri Siddharameshwara swamiji of Shirahatti and Sri Shivayogi swamiji of Murugha Math, Dharwad, Mr. Hunasimarad said. A slew of programmesAs part of the Dasara celebrations, several cultural programmes had been organised and noted artistes from throughout the State would be performing, he added.
