Mahantagouda Patil quits Janata Dal(S)

Staff Correspondent

BIJAPUR: The General Secretary of the State unit of the Janata Dal (Secular), Mahantagouda Patil, has resigned from the party along with his supporters in protest against the party leadership’s decision of not handing over power to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Promise

Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday, Mr. Patil, who is the vice-president of Bijapur District Central Cooperative Bank, said that the Janata Dal (Secular) leaders did not keep their promise on transfer of power to the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had lost his credibility and goodwill he had earned during the 20-month rule of the coalition Government in the State, he added.

Many resign

The president of the Muddebihal taluk unit of the party, Mahantagouda Navadagi, and a few other leaders of the party announced their decision to resign from the party on the occasion.
