KARUR: Farmers from the Cauvery delta districts will meet at Thottakurichi, near here, on Saturday to discuss the ramifications of the Cauvery River Waters Disputes Tribunal order.
Farmers from areas irrigated by the Cauvery, the Coleroon, the Bhavani and the Amaravathy are expected to deliberate on issues including presentation of demands when the appeal on the verdict is taken up as also the status of the suit filed by the Cauvery Delta Farmers’ Welfare Association in the Supreme Court.
The association will hold a meet of farmers at the gardens of former MLA T.N. Sivasubramanian at Thottakurichi.
Those expected to take part in the deliberations include Mannaragudi S. Ranganathan, general secretary of the association, S. Janakarajan of the Madras Institute of Development Studies and also Cauvery Family Coordinator, Association working president Mahadanapuram S. Rajaram, and leaders of farmers’ associations from sectors including sugarcane, betel vine and coconut growers.
