BHUBANESWAR: The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Friday joined the growing opposition to the issue of waiving Rs. 2,300 crores loan to the Orissa-based Indian Metal and Ferro Alloys (IMFA) Limited. The state unit of the CPI staged a demonstration in front of the Governor’s House protesting against the “undue favour” shown to the industrial house. “The company in which BJD MP Baijant Panda has a major stake has been given debt relaxation to the tune of Rs. 2,300 crores. It is a big embezzlement of public money,” CPI Bhubaneswar Zone Committee president Sura Jena said here. CPI State secretary Dibakar Nayak, former legislator Dyutikrushna Panda, MLA Narayan Reddy and labour union leader Souribandhu Kar took part in the demonstration. They demanded that a CBI inquiry be ordered into whole issue.
