This Day That Age
The resignation of Mr. H.S. Suhrawardy as Prime Minister of Pakistan did not come as a surprise to political circles in New Delhi in view of the known rift between the Awami League and the Republican Party. There was, however, keen interest as to who the successor was going to be. Nevertheless, it would rest with the new Prime Minister whether to continue the “hate India” campaign, which reached a new pitch of intensity under Mr. Suhrawardy’s stewardship, or to check it and thus bring about a lessening of the tension between India and Pakistan even while continuing the policies of successive governments in Pakistan.
