dated October 13,1957: Awards for gallantry

At a special investiture ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 11, President Rajendra Prasad presented 17 civilian and military decorations to the heroes or their next of kin for gallantry in military operations in Jammu and Kashmir, in defence of refugees in the early days of Partition and in operations in aid of civil power in the Naga Hills.
