NEW DELHI: Japanese electronics giant Panasonic on Friday launched its ‘Lumix’ range of digital still cameras and ‘E Cam’ range of digital video cameras in India.

The company also announced the setting up of 100 exclusive stores for boosting sales and marketing network across the country.

The Lumix range of 10 cameras are available in the price range of Rs. 9,490-29,990, while the four E Cam digital video cameras are priced between Rs. 14,990 and Rs. 69,990.

Panasonic India has tied up with the MCC Group to distribute its new range of products.

Both the products are equipped with top-of-the-line Leica lenses and “optical image stabiliser” technology for better picture quality and shake-free images.

Unveiling the new range of products, Panasonic India Chairman, H. Asou, said, “Digital imaging segment in India is growing at the rate of 18 per cent annually and we hope to capture 10 per cent of the market within the next two years. We have planned an initial investment of Rs. 5 crore to establish the business and penetrate the channel.”

“We will be opening 100 Panasonic brand shops, up from three at present. We will also be investing heavily on marketing our products across all the categories starting this festive season,” Mr. Asou added.

According to the MCC Group Managing Director, Ajay Mehta, “The Panasonic range of products will be available through our 4,000-strong dealer network.”

In the audio-video segment, comprising the televisions and cameras, Panasonic is aiming a 100 per cent growth in turnover this year, which was $50 million last year.
