VIJAYAWADA: The municipal corporation officials on Friday celebrated the winning first prize in Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) management among 48 municipalities and corporations across the country. The Crisil and Union Ministry of Urban Development gave away two awards to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) for its municipal services delivery improvement and also in MSW management. Health and sanitation wing of the corporation organised a function at corporation’s general body meeting hall. Municipal Commissioner Natarajan Gulzar cut a cake on the occasion, and lauded the efforts of sanitation wing staff. He said that the award was a result of collective efforts of public representatives and corporation staff. Mayor Mallika Begum, Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Kolli Srikaruna Murthy,Additional Commissioner (General) G.P. Neelakantham, Additional Commissioner (Projects) Giridhar Rao, Examiner of Accounts Ashok Mourya, City Planner Timma Reddy and others were present.
