Two schoolchildren drown in lake

KANCHEEPURAM: Two school students drowned in the Molachur lake when they were taking bath on Friday afternoon.

According to police, the 10-year-old boys, Sirajudheen and Dakshinamurthy, residents of Molachur, went to the lake along with six other students from Panchayat Union Elementary School, Molachur, to take bath during the lunch hour.

When the two students drowned, others rushed back to the school and informed the authorities.

Subsequently, a group of local people and the school authorities started a search and recovered the bodies.

The Sunguvarchatram police have registered a case.
