Honoured: Governor N. D.Tiwari giving away Dr. Ramineni Foundation Award to P. Susheela in Hyderabad on Friday.

HYDERABAD: Governor N.D. Tiwari on Friday gave away the Ramineni Foundation Puraskaarams – 2007 to former Vice-Chancellor P. Ramachandra Rao of Banaras Hindu University, popular playback singer P. This is the ninth year the awards were given away, in memory of Ramineni Ayyanna Chowdary (Dr. RAV), who was born in a farmer’s family and going to the USA for higher education, went on to became a teacher par excellence.

Apart from the Visishta and Visesha Puraskaarams, students who excel in Class X from all the 57 mandals of Guntur, his native district are identified and recognised, apart from being an educational grant. Among those who shared the dais were Ministers N. Rajyalakshmi (Women Development), G. Aruna Kumari (Medical Education) and M. Venkataramana Rao (Infrastructure, Investment) and jury members G.N. Rao, director, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, K. Ramachandramurthy, Editor, Andhra Jyothi, and magician B.V. Pattabhiram.
