Study Circle classes for APPSC aspirants begin

Sub-Collector underscores ‘positive competition’

VIJAYAWADA: Inspiring candidates of competitive examinations by revealing his success story, Vijayawada Sub-Collector Gaurav Uppal on Friday advised students to prepare for exams seriously and give top priority to clearing of their doubts.

He interacted with a group of students preparing for the Group-I and Group-II examinations to be conducted by the APPSC at the inauguration of coaching classes being conducted by the local unit of the Andhra Pradesh Study Circle here on Friday.

‘Stick to timetable’

Dr. Uppal said that it was not difficult to prepare for competitive examinations even for employees, provided they adhered to their timetable. “I prepared for Civil Services examination when I was working as medical officer. Despite hectic work schedule, I allotted time for preparation and revision of subjects every day,” he recalled.

Underlining the need for “positive competition” among the aspirants, he advised them to share study material with each other and participate in group discussions frequently. “The preparation should not be superficial. You have to study the subjects in depth and develop interest among the content. If you are reading history, you have to put yourself in the shoes of the historic figure participated in a particular war or incident,” he said. Besides studying textbooks and notes, Dr. Uppal said the aspirants should be able to analyse current affairs and present their views. They should also appear for preparation tests to improve writing speed and handwriting as well. “You have an access to a library, where almost all titles pertaining to the syllabus are available. If you want any more titles, you can ask the officials here. You are free to tell the same to me,” he said. Special Officer of the study circle V. Himabindu said that regular classes would be held from Saturday in three batches a day.
