Three killed in road accident

AMBUR: Three persons, including an eight-year-old boy were killed in a road accident involving a private bus and a lorry here on Thursday night.

According to police, 60 people from Thennagaram taluk in Dharmapuri district had engaged a private bus to take them to Tirupati. The bus rammed a lorry parked opposite Ambur Railway Station on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway . Gandan (17) of Sozhianoor was killed on the spot and fifty people on the bus were injured. Bus driver Govindan (42) of Sitaraipatti has been arrested.

Seventeen of the 50 injured, who were taken to the Ambur Government Hospital, were referred to the Government Hospital at Vellore. On Friday, Chitra (39) of Sitaraipatti and Ajith Kumar (8) of Araligundi succumbed to injuries.
