RAJAHMUNDRY: In a ghastly incident here on Friday evening, crackers stored in a house for the coming Deepavali exploded leaving one person dead and six injured. The blast occured in Venkateswara Matam street off Ganesh Chowk near Devi Chowk centre.
According to Fire Officer D.R.K. Raju and Town police Inspector Trinatha Rao, the crackers burst on the second floor of a three-storied building around 4.40 p.m. The body of one Chamarti Satyanarayana alias Sattibabu flew into the air in the impact before falling on an adjacent roofed house. The rubbles of the third floor of the building and side walls of the second floor were reduced to pieces. Eye witnesses said they suddenly heard a big explosion and mistook it to be a bomb blast aimed at Devi Chowk. Some suspected it to be an LPG cylinder blast.
