Chinmoy dead

NEW YORK: Sri Chinmoy, a spiritual leader who ran a meditation group at the United Nations and counted musician Carlos Santana among his followers, has died at age 76, his organisation said on Friday.

The Indian guru died of a heart attack on Thursday at his home in the New York City borough of Queens, where he ran a meditation centre.

His organisation, the Oneness-Heart-Tears and Smiles, was responsible for collecting and distributing medical supplies throughout Asia and Africa, according to his Web site. - AP
