International meet on ‘Sports for peace’ on Oct. 16


About 200 delegates will be attending the forum

The subject — ‘Sport – a concrete tool to promote peace’


HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association will organise an international forum ‘ Sports for Peace’ at the Taj Krishna Hotel here on Oct. 16 from 9.00 am, according to B.K. Haranath, co-ordinator of the event.

About 200 delegates from all over the country will be attending the forum where the main subject of debate will be ‘Sport – a concrete, fundamental tool to promote peace’.

The partners for the forum are CISM (International Military Sports Council), International Olympic Committee, International Olympic Truce Committee, IOA and the organising committee. T.A.G.Sithole, IOC Director for International Cooperation and Development, will be the moderator.

Corporate Olympiad

Forty teams have confirmed participation in the third JDA Corporate Olympiad featuring cricket, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and badminton and commencing from Oct. 27. Entries close by Oct. 19. For details contact the Dravyansh Corporate & Sports Organisers.

Easy for St. Andrews

St. Andrews High School scored a nine-wicket win over All Saint’s High School in the final of the Airtel under-15 cricket tournament organised by Hyderabad Cricket Association here.

The scores: All Saint’s HS 105 in 45.1 overs (G.H. Vihari three for 11, Chaitanya three for three) lost to St. Andrews 106 for one (Naveen 45 not out).

Ruchira in semifinal

K. Ruchira Reddy defeated K. Kiranmayee 6-5 in the girls’ under-10 quarter-final of the ninth YMCA Kargil Victory Sports Festival mini and sub-junior tennis tournament here.

League matches put off

The Hyderabad Cricket Association’s league matches to be held on Oct. 14 and 21 have been postponed due to the Ramzan and Dassera.
