BHUBANEWAR: Here is good news for the litterateurs of the State. The Central Sahitya Akademi, which is the apex literary body of the nation, will be hosting a major literary event in the city on Sunday. Aptly named as ‘Kabi Sandhi’ and ‘Katha Sandhi’, a day-long meet-the-writer programme at the Panth Nivas here will feature two popular Oriya literary figures - poet Rajendra Kishore Panda and short story writer Binapani Mohanty, informed the hosts. Popular conceptSuch programmes have been designed by the Akademi about two decades ago to provide an interactive platform for the writers’ community with the Sahitya Akademi awardees and eminent writers. The interactive sessions with literary figures are popular throughout the country, they added. Panda, a former civil servant, and Mohanty, who taught economics in colleges, have been recipients of the coveted Sahitya Akademi awards for poetry and fiction respectively. They would also read out some of their favourite literary works to a gathering of writers on the occasion, which would follow an interactive session. Nearly 100 literary personalities are expected to assemble for the event, the organisers said. The Akademi hosted a similar event earlier this year in Bhubaneswar, which featured prominent poet Saurindra Barik and versatile fiction writer Ramachandra Behera, it was learnt.
