NEW DELHI: The Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party launched a movement against the Sheila Dikshit Government on Saturday over the issue of price rise and Blueline buses with a dharna at Darya Ganj. Addressing the gathering, party president Harsh Vardhan said that at a time when the Government was talking about Delhi as a world-class city the fact was that people were living in fear of Blueline buses and struggling to make ends meet due to steep increase in the prices of essential commodities. Dr. Vardhan said that while the Government had announced in July that Blueline buses would be taken off the roads, it was now bent upon violating the orders of the High Court and the Lieutenant-Governor. “The Chief Minister has stated that her Government has no alternative to the Blueline buses. If the Lieutenant-Governor has any alternative then he can provide it,” he said. The BJP leader said people were bearing the brunt of rise in prices of essential commodities for the past three years. The claims on curbing price rise were hollow as expenditure on food items has shot up many times, he said. He said there was a major problem in supply of domestic gas as people have to wait for a week from the date of booking for delivery of cylinders.
