Exhibition hones students’ skills

Staff Reporter

PUDUKOTTAI: The concept of school-level science exhibition has gained roots and has gone down well with the student community. The stiff competition can be gauged from the fact that three exhibits are chosen from each school to enter the district-level exhibition.

A case in point is the exhibition organised recently at Raniar Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Pudukottai town.

In all, 350 students from Standards VI to XII prepared 220 exhibits on six topics: infrastructure and connectivity; agriculture and horticulture technology; agro-based innovation; solid waste management; watershed and disaster management.

“Each student worked on the exhibit for about a week, carefully designing the model in order to qualify for the district-level competition,” says Headmaster R. Bose.

For instance, a group of Plus Two students, K. Nagarani, K. Divya and B. Anandi, who chose “Modern technology in agriculture” not only consulted their science teachers but also officials of the Agriculture Department during the process of making their exhibit.

A total of 15 exhibits from the school were selected for the Pudukottai district-level science exhibition to be held on Monday.
