Meet on Ayurveda Act today

KOLLAM: The Ayurveda Hospitals Managements Association will organise a seminar on the Kerala Ayurvedic Health Centres (Issue of Licence and Control) Act on Sunday. Agriculture Minister Mullakara Ratnakaran will inaugurate it. Mayor N. Padmalochanan will preside over the inaugural function. P. Rajendran, MP, will be chief guest. G. Vijayan Nangelil, president of the association, will inaugurate a continuing medical education programme.

At a press conference here on Friday, Shafi Tashkent, treasurer of the association, and S.P. Suresh Babu, organising committee chairman, said it was the association which had demanded an Act to prevent the abuse of Ayurveda when it was noticed that the system of medicine was being wantonly abused under the label of tourism promotion and massage parlours. The seminar would focus on this aspect.
