HYDERABAD: Hereafter, coconuts for puja purpose sold to pilgrims within the precincts of major temples in the State will he sold at Rs. 5 apiece. Orders providing for sale of the coconut at uniform rate have been issued by the Endowments Department. The price, however, does not apply to Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, which comes under the control of the TTD. A senior Endowment official said a system of control mechanism was being worked out by the department to implement the price at the stalls near the temples. There are over 40,00 temples coming under the purview of the department where the new price is to be enforced.
