Coconut price fixed at Rs. 5 at temples in A.P.

HYDERABAD: Hereafter, coconuts for puja purpose sold to pilgrims within the precincts of major temples in Andhra Pradesh will he sold at Rs. 5 apiece. Orders providing for sale of the coconut at uniform rate have been issued by the Endowments Department. The price, however, does not apply to Tirumala , which comes under the control of the TTD.

There are over 40,00 temples coming under the purview of the department where the new price is to be enforced. The long list, including such famous shrines as Srisailam, Vijayawada (Kanakadurga), Dwaraka Tirumala , Kanaka Mahalakshmi (Visakhapatnam), Yadagirigutta, etc.
