Sethu project will certainly be implemented: Chidambaram

Staff Reporter

SIVAGANGA: The Sethusamudram Project will certainly be implemented without affecting the sentiments of people, according to Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram. In an informal chat with presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Chidambaram said the Centre would submit a fresh affidavit on the project to the Supreme Court soon. Efforts were already initiated to prepare the affidavit.

A 10-member experts committee formed to hear objections and suggestions on the project had started functioning. Mr. Chidambaram said appreciation of rupee value was because of 9 per cent growth rate and steady inflow of foreign direct investments. The inflation rate had come down to 3.26 per cent.
