H.P. Minister opts out of poll on personal grounds
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Animal Husbandry Minister Harsh Mahajan on Saturday said he will not contest the coming Assembly elections in the State due to personal reasons.
Mr. Mahajan, three-time MLA from Chamba, in a letter addressed to people of the constituency, said owing to ‘personal reasons’ he would not be contesting the Assembly election this time but will work for the party as its ‘committed soldier.’
Pointing out that there was no alternative to the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Mahajan said the future of the people of the State was secure in the hands of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
Mr. Mahajan thanked the people of his constituency for showering love and affection on him for so long and enabling him to win the Chamba assembly seat thrice in a row. — PTI
