Savita slams five

NEW DELHI: Savita Saini scored the first five goals as Tikaram SSS, Sonepat, defeated Government Adarsh Kanya HS, Durg, 8-0 in the NDMC 14th Nehru junior girls’ hockey tournament at the Shivaji Stadium here on Saturday.

Neha Goel, Bhawana and Nisha Dahiya accounted for the other goals of the Sonepat team which qualified for the super-league.

Government SSS, Karon, Amritsar; Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Nangloi, and Beer Bahadur Singh Sports College, Gorakhpur, also won their matches and booked berths for the super-league.

Other results: Government SSS, Kairon, Amritsar, 13 (Mandeep Kaur 3, Shikha Batta 3, Harvinder Kaur 3, Sandeep Kaur 2, Nancy Batta and Ramandeep Kaur sr.) beat Shri Janata Vidyalaya, Jalia, Di-Amreli, 0.

Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, Nangloi, 1 (Sneh) beat Duroelo Convent, Mumbai, 0.

Beer Bahadur Singh Sports College, Gorakhpur, 7 (Akriti Choudhary 2, Priya Rai 2, Harshita Singh, Shivani Singh and Kajal Malik) beat Lawrence School, Ooty, 0.
